Aadip Desai (he/him) is an Indian American screenwriter, comedian, and musician whose name rhymes with Adele’s “Rolling in The Deep.” As an Air Force brat turned LA creative, he crafts stories about edgy yet hilarious families in crisis across all genres.
A BAFTA Breakthrough US honoree, Aadip cut his teeth as a Staff Writer on ABC’s THE GOLDBERGS, where he penned the milestone 150th episode of what he lovingly calls “a show mostly about yelling.” His writing credits span from Disney Jr.’s TCA Award-winning MIRA, ROYAL DETECTIVE to the International EMMY-nominated SHARKDOG (Nickelodeon/Netflix) and DreamWorks’ DEW DROP DIARIES. He even earned the distinction of “most memorable cast member” from Bobby Flay himself on Food Network’s WORST COOKS IN AMERICA.
In a pivotal career move, Aadip left AFI’s MFA Screenwriting program to join the Walt Disney TV Writing Program. His industry expertise has made him a sought-after educator and speaker voice at prestigious institutions including the Sundance Institute, BAFTA, Humanitas, WGA, and top film schools like AFI, USC, UCLA, NYU, and LMU.
His improv comedy chops were honed at the Upright Citizens Brigade, where he received a full scholarship, The Groundlings, and iO, as well as stand-up performances at legendary venues like The Improv, The Comedy Store, and a regular gig at a vegan restaurant with one bathroom.
Before diving into writing, Aadip had a hazy life in the music industry, wearing multiple hats as a jazz trumpet player, indie rock drummer, music supervisor, music executive for Starbucks, and much more. He holds a BA in Economics with a Minor in Music from the University of Puget Sound. Aadip is represented by Varun Monga at Paradigm Talent Agency.
